Payroll Clerk

Position Summary:

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for assisting in the accurate processing of payroll, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and payroll regulations. This role supports the payroll team by handling administrative tasks related to timekeeping, payroll deductions, and tax documentation. The Payroll Clerk plays a key role in ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect, review, and enter employee timecards, hours worked, and payroll adjustments into the payroll system.
  • Assist in the bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll processing cycles.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of overtime, bonuses, and payroll deductions.
  • Verify and process direct deposit requests and changes.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax forms, direct deposit details, and deductions.
  • Ensure proper documentation and confidentiality of payroll files and employee earnings information.
  • Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and employee payroll-related inquiries.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll tax filings and year-end reports (W-2s, 1099s, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws (FLSA, FICA, etc.).
  • Assist in payroll audits and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.
  • Process garnishments, child support orders, and other court-mandated deductions as required by law.
  • Monitor and verify employee timekeeping records to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist employees and managers with timesheet corrections and leave balances.
  • Ensure compliance with company attendance policies and labor laws regarding time tracking.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to coordinate payroll changes and employee deductions.
  • Provide support to employees regarding payroll-related questions, tax withholdings, and direct deposit issues.
  • Other duties may be assisted

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in payroll processing or a related role.

Education

  • High School Diploma

Skills Required:

  • Some understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to interact with employees and management.

  • Overtime required – required on an as needed basis
  • Must have reliable transportation and live within a commutable distance of Atlanta

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., Paycom) preferred.

Work Schedule This position requires the ability to work various shifts to accommodate business needs. Typically, between the hours of 8AM-6PM Monday through Friday and on weekends as needed.
