Senior Release Manager-Salesforce

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior Salesforce Release Manager with strong expertise in Copado to manage our Salesforce environments and oversee release processes and Release Specialists. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of release management experience and a proven track record of managing complex Salesforce environments and supporting concurrent release trains. You will work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth deployments, environment stability, and adherence to best practices.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead other release specialists in fulfilling their tasks.
  • Manage and oversee the end-to-end release management process for Salesforce, ensuring efficient and smooth deployment of code changes across development, QA, staging, and production environments.
  • Lead and coordinate release planning activities, including scheduling, communication, and deployment management.
  • Maintain and manage multiple Salesforce sandboxes and environments, ensuring proper setup, configuration, and synchronization between environments.
  • Utilize Copado for version control, continuous integration, and release management, ensuring all changes are tracked and properly governed.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to define and implement effective strategies for continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to releases and environments, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime or deployment failures.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to Salesforce best practices, particularly around governance, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Maintain a detailed release calendar, outlining key deployment windows, freeze periods, and environment refresh schedules.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are informed of release schedules, changes, risks, and issues, providing clear and consistent communication throughout the release process.
  • Implement and optimize automation for the release process using Copado and other DevOps tools, improving efficiency and reducing manual efforts.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the release management strategy with regard to process, identifying and implementing best practices for scaling releases and improving reliability.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Expertise in Copado for release management, version control, and deployment automation within Salesforce.
  • Solid understanding of Salesforce environments and development lifecycle.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket) and how they integrate with Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce development frameworks, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning/Aura Components, and OmniStudio components.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple environments and complex deployments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with an eye for detail.

Required Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in release and environment management, with at least 3+ years of Salesforce-specific (leveraging Copado) release management.
  • Excellent knowledge of DevOps, and technology such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with large data integration and migration activities within Salesforce projects
  • Demonstrated ability deploying and managing code and releases with Copado

Education – requirements and/or certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, or a similar field of study

Skills required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities, as well as the ability to communicate successfully with both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Ability to self-start and effectively operate within a complex, dynamic environment
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Travel - 0% - 15% as required on an as needed basis
  • Must live within a commutable distance to one of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Houston, TX.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Administrator, Platform Developer I, or Copado Administrator/Developer certifications.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or Confluence
  • Experience with data migration and environment refresh processes
