Repossessions Team Manager

Location: Atlanta, GA

Position Summary:

The primary duties of this role involve leading the repossession team, developing and implementing strategies to improve business efficiency, and continuously monitoring these processes for effectiveness. The role also demands ensuring that all activities comply with corporate guidelines and are in full alignment with both federal and state laws. This comprehensive approach requires a strategic mindset, a commitment to enhancing operational processes, and a deep understanding of the legal environment to maintain the highest standards of compliance and ethics.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Risk Management, Compliance, and Digital teams to enhance efficiency through process automation and respond promptly to audit inquiries, ensuring adherence to CFPB, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee vendor management for repossession assignments, optimizing outsourced operations and maintaining compliance.
  • Communicate and implement regulatory changes effectively, ensuring all processes are up-to-date and compliant.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of cross-channel business initiatives, focusing on strategy development and workflow optimization.
  • Facilitate goal-setting meetings, establishing both long-term objectives and short-term targets for departmental growth and efficiency.
  • Provide comprehensive support and training, addressing escalated issues and guiding daily workflow, to enhance team performance and development.
  • Develop reporting protocols to update senior management on performance metrics, trends, and operational workloads, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Manage the entire repossession process, from account selection and vendor liaison to ensuring compliance with legal requirements, including the processing of vehicle reinstatements and redemptions.
  • Safeguard consumer information rigorously, managing sensitive data with the utmost integrity and in compliance with legal standards.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of auto Repossession, Collection, or Remarketing experience. Minimum 2-year Team Lead/Supervisor experience.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills required:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should know MS Excel software and MS Word software.
  • Compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and local, state, and federal collection laws.

Leadership or supervisory skills required:

  • Directly oversees employees and executes supervisory duties in alignment with company policies and relevant legal requirements.
  • Conducts interviews, hires new staff, and oversees the training and development of employees.
  • Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate employee performance, providing feedback, recognition, and guidance to foster professional growth.
  • Handles disciplinary measures, addresses grievances, and resolves workplace issues in a fair and effective manner.
  • While authorized to lead and manage daily operations, must consult with the Human Resources department before making decisions on hiring, termination, promotion/transfer/demotion, or formal disciplinary actions.
  • Occasional weekends may be required
  • Must have reliable transportation and live within a commutable distance to one of the following cities: Atlanta, GA
  • Physical Requirements: Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, close vision for computer work, speaking, hearing, lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. Reasonable accommodation will be reviewed upon request.
